Before you make plans
Which days should I plan to attend?
Distinguish Mahalaya from Shashthi, when the main public Puja period begins. Ashtami, Navami and Vijayadashami have their own dates in the schedule. A pandal's opening hours, anjali and procession arrangements must be confirmed with its organisers.
Does this calendar give the Sandhi Puja time?
No. Sandhi Puja is tied to the transition from Ashtami to Navami, not to the whole of either civil day. Confirm the exact local window with your temple or a local Panchang before making arrangements.
Why this date?
Starts on Ashwin Shukla Shashthi (6th day of bright fortnight in Ashwin) during Navaratri. The last 5 days of Navaratri are the main celebration, ending on Dashami with Vijaya, typically in October.
For 2029, Samvat resolves the observance to Friday, 12 October 2029, with Shukla Shashthi, Ashwin. The public festival calendar uses an India-baseline Panchang; personal observance can vary by location and family tradition.
